How we count
Building permits issued from September 27, 2026 through October 26, 2026, the most recent 30 days of Lynden, Ferndale & Whatcom County data we hold. This area page combines the City of Lynden, the City of Ferndale and unincorporated Whatcom County (Birch Bay, Custer, Deming, Glacier, Lummi Island, Sudden Valley and the rural county outside city limits), from each one's public building permit records. Lynden and Ferndale do not publish permit values, so the reported value comes from Whatcom County's permits. Each permit is counted once. Values are the valuations reported on the permits, leaving out obvious data-entry errors; a project filed as several permits is valued once. Contractor counts are companies named on the permits.
