The tire plant that anchored La Vergne, Tennessee, for decades is coming down. On Thursday, Oct. 15, Hamilton Development and Clarion Partners announced they had bought the former Bridgestone plant and plan to turn the site into an industrial park, WKRN reported.
The buyers paid $90.7 million for the property at 1201 Bridgestone Parkway, according to Hoodline, citing the Nashville Business Journal.
What's planned
The master plan calls for 1.5 million square feet of industrial space in 10 buildings. The developers say the buildings can fit tenants from 80,000 to 250,000 square feet. The site plan also has a future retail building on the corner of Waldron Road and Bridgestone Parkway.

Phase one starts "immediately" with demolition of the old plant. That first phase is six buildings totaling more than 760,000 square feet, about half the full plan, with completion targeted for the second quarter of 2028, according to the Nashville Post as cited by Hoodline.
Whitfield Hamilton, the developer's CEO, called it "a complicated, difficult infill site given the scale of the demolition and work required."
A long run ends
The plant opened in 1972 under Firestone. Bridgestone bought it in 1988, and it became the company's first U.S. manufacturing plant. Bridgestone announced in January 2025 that it would close the La Vergne truck and bus tire plant, and the last day was moved up to July 8 of that year.
Reports differ on how many people lost jobs. WKRN said the company told 700 employees not to come back after the Fourth of July. Hoodline, citing the state layoff notice, put the number at 658 workers.
More warehouse space next door
The La Vergne site is the same developer's second big Rutherford County industrial job this year. The firm started work in March on Cornerstone Business Park, a 152-acre, 1.8 million-square-foot development in neighboring Smyrna.
The timing comes as Rutherford County already has plenty of empty warehouse space. Hoodline put the county's industrial inventory at 43 million to 45 million square feet, with vacancy between 9.5% and 10% in mid-2026, well above Nashville's 5.2% to 5.4%.
Hoodline noted that population growth has been tied to demand for distribution buildings, and the site has quick access to Interstate 24.
