Another big apartment project is going up in the North Burnet area near The Domain. Construction has started on The Kent, a seven-story community with nearly four hundred units at 2631 Kramer Lane, Community Impact reported.
It's one of the larger new apartment starts in Austin, Texas this fall, at a time when new multifamily construction in the city has slowed sharply.
What's being built on Kramer Lane
The Kent will have one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with access to a parking garage. The developer, HPI, is also acting as its own construction manager and asset manager, and is putting its own money into the project alongside private investors, according to Community Impact.

HPI's approach is a mid-rise building rather than a tower, which the company told Community Impact lets it offer new construction at lower rents than many of the newer high-rises around The Domain.
Timeline for The Kent
First units are expected by late 2028, with full completion by early 2029. The timing is deliberate: the developer wants The Kent finished to line up with the new UT Dell Medical Center off MoPac, due in 2030.
Austin building permits this fall
